Friday, November 6: Fireworks Display. Spectacular fireworks at Swarland Sports Club. Free toffee apples will be handed out to the first 50 children through the gates. Admission £3 adults, £1 children. There will be mulled wine and a barbecue. 6.30pm.

Saturday, November 7: Alnwick Fireworks Display. To celebrate the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, Alnwick Round Table's annual fireworks display is set to be as spectacular as ever. 7.30pm at Alnwick Rugby Club. Refreshments on sale, with side-shows and entertainment.

Saturday, November 7, & Sunday, November 8: Christmas Festive Gift Fair. Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens, 10am to 4pm, admission prices adults £6.50, conc £5.50, children £3.30, family ticket £16.30, English Heritage members free. A great variety of specialist crafts and unique gifts on sale throughout the hall.

Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8: Remembrance Weekend. A special activity at the Bailiffgate Museum which focuses on remembering those who have gone before. Make a big poppy collage, and handle Second World War objects.

Monday, November 9: Shopping Evening. St John's RC First School, Alnwick, Christmas shopping evening in the school, 7pm–9pm. Admission £1.50, including a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.

Tuesday, November 10: Bell View Annual General Meeting. The Trustees look forward to updating supporters and members about the successes of previous year and their plans for the coming year. There will also be a slideshow depicting Bell View from past to present. At Bell View, Belford. Refreshments will be served from 7pm and the meeting will commence at 7.30pm.

Wednesday, November 11, and Thursday, November 12: Putting the House to Bed at Cragside. A behind-the-scenes tour of the house as the conservation team demonstrate how they protect the house and its contents while it is closed for the winter. 10.30am to 12.30pm, and 1.30pm to 3.30pm, £10 + normal admission charge.
