Saturday, January 10: Jennifer Pike - violin recital. A violin recital from Jennifer Pike, who became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2002 at the age of twelve. She appeared at the BBC Proms in 2005 and at eighteen she is an acclaimed, established artist. The programme includes music from Janacek, Cesar Franck and Beethoven. Thursday, January 8: The Blues Brothers (15;133min) – One of the greatest anarchic cult comedies ever made. As Jake and Elwood struggle to reunite their old band and save the Chicago orphanage where they raised they wreak enough good-natured havoc to attract the entire Cook County police force. £7.30 tickets £5.

Thursday, January 15: The North Northumberland Rock Garden Group meets at 2.15 pm in the Community Club, Belford. Speaker Peter Maguire, from Gosforth, will talk about Plant Photography in the Digital Age. Tea and biscuits are served after the talk.

Alnwick Playhouse. Alnwick District Arts Association Members' Christmas Exhibition – the ever-popular Christmas event which highlights the diversity of artistic work by members of the Alnwick District Arts Association. Until January 17. 10am-4pm.

Crown Studio Gallery, Rothbury. New paintings of Coquetdale by resident professional artist Lynda Taylor. Also an exciting collection of contemporary gifts, artwork and jewellery all made by regional and national artists and craftsmen. This includes the best ever display of colourful wearable art jewellery by Michael Peckitt, as seen in Marie Claire magazine. Also gemstone jewellery by Jennifer Wheallans including special girls' sizes and gorgeous glass jewellery by Jules Jules; photographs by David Taylor; prints by John Degnan, Alison Read, Ali and Sarah Taylor; and designer made bags by Kate Munday.
