May we say a huge thank-you to everyone who supported us in our double marathon last month.

We took part in the 52.4-mile Over the Moon walking challenge in Edinburgh on June 7-8.

We crossed the start at 11.30pm and crossed the finish at 12.58pm the next day, walking for a total of 13 hours 28 minutes.

The event was organised by Walk the Walk, a fabulous charity, famous for its overnight Moonwalks, with participants wearing decorated bras.

Every year, the walks raise millions of pounds, which Walk the Walk then grant to various breast-cancer charities, including Maggies Centres, Penny Brohn Cancer Care and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Thanks to all the generous people who sponsored us, we are overwhelmed to have raised a total of £1,635.60.

End of an era for first school

On behalf of Friends and Family (the Parent-Teacher Association) of St Cuthbert’s RC First School in Amble, we would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.

The remaining money has been used to fund the activities the children have enjoyed over these last few weeks of school.

This has included:

A v isit to Alnwick Garden including transport and ice cream for all.

Transport to the Children’s Countryside Day at Glendale for all.

A visit to Woodhorn Museum to see the dinosaur exhibition including transport.

A pool party at Amble swimming pool for all.

Castlemania fun time for all.

A visit to Spurelli’s ice-cream parlour for all.

Year 4 leavers’ books and whole-school leavers’ gifts.

A token gesture of a jumper and book bag for children in Reception to Year 3 who are moving on to new first schools.

A disco and bouncy castle by JP’s for children on the final afternoon of school.

And finally, the end-of-school disco at the Radcliffe Club on Friday, July 18, from 6pm, for all past and present pupils, staff, parishioners and their families. We hope to see you all there.

Good luck to you all.
