I refer to Coun Watson’s mention last week regarding the removal of the accident tributes on the Amble road.

I thoroughly agree it’s time they went, on road-safety grounds alone.

I understand that a request for guidance was sent by Amble Town Council to the county council last April, surely they have had time to reply by now.

I believe that many local authorities are now imposing a 12-week limit on the temporary posting of such tributes, which seems a very good idea.

I feel that if the families concerned heard the majority of comments passed on their ‘memorials’, they would remove them quite promptly themselves.

While my sympathy goes to those concerned, I don’t see why the rest of us have to suffer so long.
