Is Northumberland a victim of its own success?
The drive for tourism has worked well, the county is now full to bursting with visitors.
However, having sold Northumberland as a quiet, peaceful place with stunning scenery, unspoilt by commercial ventures and crowds, there seems a danger of destroying the main pulling points.
Indeed, I have heard many visitors complaining about just that and there seems to be a feeling of ‘stunning place but not quite the atmosphere we expected’.
I am sure the lovely weather this year has exacerbated the situation but perhaps more thought needs to be given to the future of the tourist industry.
Northumberland has always been loved for its tranquillity.
