The ‘girls’ do a great job

On behalf of the Over 60s in Wooler, can I give a huge thanks to the ‘girls’ of the carnival committee and their chairman, Bunt Morton.

In September, they treated over 50 of us on a coach trip to Carlisle followed by a fish and chip tea in Hawick - a lovely day.

Last Sunday they treated almost 100 to a wonderful Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings, courtesy of John and Steph at Milan.

The food was excellent, the service great (the girls themselves being the waitresses for the occasion) followed by Andy Whittle who kept everyone entertained with his guitar playing and singing bringing back lots of memories of years gone by.

The ‘girls’ are all full-time working mums, so we are very grateful that they give up some of their valuable time to the older generation.

We wish them and their families a very Happy Christmas.
