Roads: We all have equal rights

I seem to have hit a nerve. I apologise for upsetting the sensitive souls of Pauperhaugh, (Northumberland Gazette, June 25), but have just one thing to say - you have no increased right of passage for these roads as I do on the A697 simply because they run past your house.

People drive like lunatics all over this county, but we can’t stop them from using certain roads.

Have you been in Alnwick on a Friday night? Should the people who live there be given way to?

We do not live in Dickensian times and your road is my road, is his road, is her road. It’s our road. It’s actually the taxpayers road and no one, not even Queen Liz, has any more of a claim to its use than you or I.

Rothbury Rod.
