June 1-7, was Volunteers’ Week - a reminder to us at HospiceCare North Northumberland of the enormous contribution volunteers make to our organisation.
Volunteers drive patients to Daycare and help us to care for them, and others are involved with our Bereavement and Hospice at Home Services. Our Trustees are also volunteers.
Then there’s fundraising. We recently had a wonderful Open Garden day at Mindrum courtesy of Ginny Fairfax, raising £3,800. As well as our regular volunteers, Tom Fairfax and his children conducted the highly popular duck races with great enthusiasm. Trevor the Duck-in-Boots was won by a lady from Ponteland.
So, huge thanks all round, both to our wonderful volunteers and all those whose support enables us to keep delivering our truly local HospiceCare Services.
Chair of Trustees,
I WOULD like to give a big thank you to the volunteers, members of the public and Morrisons supermarket who supported us at the bag-packing event on May 28.
We raised £305 for the free Information and Advice Service run by Age UK Northumberland.
