Lights fantastic

A HUGE thankyou to everyone who turned out on Sunday night for the Christmas lights switch on in Amble, especially all the children, their families and volunteers from the first schools in the school partnership who made the parade so special.

Frosty the Snowman was created by local artist Elaine Porter and was brought to life by her husband Richard.

Elaine and staff from Take Action Positive Steps also provided the workshops in the first schools with the Year Four pupils.

Each school created different lanterns that lit up the streets as everyone followed the drummers – Drum Din – through Amble to the town square.

Workshops were offered for dads only and they created some fantastic friends for Frosty. Workshops for families and for young people were also available. The young people from Hadston and Amble created silk Christmas trees.

The weather stayed fine and a great time was had by all.

This was the fifth lantern parade as part of the Christmas lights events in Amble and we’re off now to start creating for next year.
