REGARDING the 20th rescue from Holy Island causeway, I have a suggestion.
How about a big sign at each end of the causeway: ‘Caution – flout the safe crossing times and your insurance company may not pay up! Are you willing to risk it?’
Accompanied by a large image of a car in the sea?
It could also display a rolling 12-month count of the idiots rescued by the RNLI and RAF helicopter to emphasise the risk and expense.
Unless there is the threat of a direct and financial consequence, there is no reason to believe that this irresponsible behaviour will not continue.
