In praise of the health service

Thanks to the Infirmary Drive doctors for sending my husband Rob to the cardiologist at the Wansbeck, as he fainted a few times.

He was referred two weeks ago, saw the surgeon on Monday, she admitted him immediately and today he has had an ICD defibrillator/pacemaker implanted next to his damaged heart.

It is a device which can treat people with dangerously abnormal heart rhythms, keeping his heart rhythms right. Even giving him a strong shock if necessary and sending a message automatically to the cardiology unit to report on his condition.

So, full of gratitude to the NHS, and our GP, and to God for answered prayers for wisdom and action from the surgeons.

Catherine Davies,
