IN view of the constant criticism of the NHS, I welcome the opportunity to give the other side of the picture in the light of my own personal experience.
I have just spent a week as a patient in Wansbeck General Hospital during which, without exception, I was treated with great kindness, efficiency and professionalism (not to mention good humour) by everybody from consultant to ancillary.
A special mention to all the staff in the catering department who contrived to produce such a delicious and varied diet on what is doubtless a very tight budget, and to the domestic staff for maintaining such a high standard of cleanliness.
People are quick to condemn and slow to praise nowadays and I am grateful to have the opportunity of giving praise and thanks where they are due. It is well-deserved.
