I know that I am lucky to live in Alnwick. I also know how important tourism is to the district’s economy.
Our secret kingdom is not so very secret any more and the coffers of many local businesses reflect this, especially with the good weather we have enjoyed lately.
But am I the only working local who finds it irritating when I can’t get parked when trying to go about my daily business?
Would a solution be to increase the number of parking spaces available to permit holders only?
Parking first thing in the morning is no problem but later in the day can be a nightmare. I often waste up to half an hour trying to find a space.
There are permit spaces at the far end of Greenwell Road but how about some others, such as in the carpark behind the Playhouse?
This doesn’t mean I am anti-tourists – just pro-local workers.
