ENVIRONMENT: Disappointed with council

I’ve just celebrated my 80th birthday and have lived in Northumberland for all of my life.

So through your great Gazette I would like to say I am very disappointed in the way this county is being run.

First, it’s very untidy. The roadsides have never been cut and the state of the roads is just unbelievable.

We were told about cut backs, which is fair enough, but then you see in the press that Northumberland County Council is appointing a chief executive again.

I live in a very rural area, with only the refuse wagon collection to come out of my council tax.

I’m not asking for a lot, but let’s keep our lovely county tidy and something to be proud of.
