Dispute: Our good name is suffering

I am absolutely dismayed to read about the long-standing dispute at Rothbury Parish Council meetings.

It seems to be never-ending and the good name of Rothbury is suffering.

Whatever the issues are, they must be resolved. I would like to call upon either our MP or one of our spiritual leaders to come forward and engage with this situation.

But I would first like to remind all participants that they are adults and must behave as such.

People in public positions (voluntary or not) have responsibilities, especially when handling large SUMS of public money, and must be accountable to the electorate. Nothing should be hidden – this is a democracy.

However, I do appreciate that the parish council is a voluntary body, with councillors giving up their time and expertise willingly.

But if any one of them feels the task is too onerous they have only one recourse.
