Warkworth Art Group (WAG) was formed in 1975 almost 40 years ago, meeting in the parish rooms in the village.
Twelve like-minded people who loved ‘art’ met every Thursday. Later, by kind permission of the Royal British Legion, the group continue to paint in the RBL meeting room.
The views of the Castle high above and the River Coquet meandering down towards Amble Marina and Coquet Island from the windows, can only inspire.
The faces have changed somewhat as some of the members died and some moved from the village but left a legacy of kindness by donating art books and materials which the new members can borrow to help them get started.
During the summer months, WAG enjoys outings to galleries and picnic painting/sketching sessions throughout our wonderful countryside in Northumberland.
In the winter, we work from our previous sketches and photographs which were taken on the outings. Also enjoy the occasional workshop with a professional artist.
Please come and join us on Sunday, November 16, in the Memorial Hall, Warkworth. 10am until 4pm.
