APPEAL: Try knitting for Remembrance

If you know one end of a knitting needle from another, or are well versed with knit one, purl one, then drop into your local funeral home.

The Co-operative Funeralcare is appealing to all knitters to help create knitted poppies, which it can sell in return for a donation to raise funds for the Royal British Legion (RBL) Poppy Appeal.

The funeral home in Fenkle Street will provide the knitting or crochet pattern to all volunteers in time for Remembrance Day.

Every year we support the Royal British Legion by providing traditional poppies, but we thought knitted poppies would be a bit different and perhaps more attractive and durable. One or two of our funeral homes provided knitted poppies last year and they were really successful.

The patterns are available until Friday, November 30.
