The results have been revealed for the Alnmouth Common Young People’s photography competition held this summer.
Organised by the Alnmouth Burgess Holders and Alnmouth Post Office, the competition attracted more than 400 photograph submissions from 40 entrants across four age groups.
The subject matter had to be Alnmouth Common, including the beach, the estuary and the golf course.
The judges were Terry Collinson, who is editor and compiler of the Alnmouth Newsletter, and Judi Hill, the founder of the Alnmouth Arts Festival and a committee member of the Burgess Holders. They were extremely impressed with the standard of photos in all age groups.
At least one image from every entrant will be featured in the 2018 Alnmouth Calendar, available from the Post Office at the end of October.
The winning entries were as follows:
Group A (age six and under) winner – Caitlin Youll – The Beacon Pole; Second – Georgie Youll – Sunrise on the Beach.
Group B (age seven to 10) winner – Mikaela Benn Shallow – Three Little Girls; Second – Lavina McKee – The Wetlands.
Group C (age 11 to 13) winner – Maisy Childe – The Boatyard in Moonlight; Second – Louisa Protheroe – Black & White Beach.
Group D (age 14 to 16) winner – Anna McQueen – Blackberries & Brambles.
The judges also decided a special commendation prize to Evelyn Kewell – Young Girl on Bracken Hill Path.
