Two-year-old Penelope Hindson, from Northumberland, will become Miss August, along with her mum and dad, in a special Military Moments calendar for 2017.

The calendar, which was launched on Monday by the charity Little Troopers, will raise money to help support more than 150,000 children who have a parent serving for their country.

Penelope’s mum and dad serve in the RAF. Her mum, Flight Sergeant Vicky Hindson, is based at RAF Boulmer, while her dad, Squadron Leader Kevin Hindson, is based at RAF High Wycombe.

The picture of them in the calendar was taken by Gazette photographer Jane Coltman at the Alnwick Battle of Britain Parade in September 2015.

The photo was selected along with 14 others for the calendar. The images show the special moments between those serving for their country and their children who they often leave behind.

Vicky said: “We are a military family and very proud to serve. It is fantastic to be selected and feature in the 2017 calendar.”

The calendar has received corporate sponsorship this year, which means all the money raised from the sales can go into the charity’s work. The month of August was sponsored by Sodexo UK.

The calendar is £9.99 and can be ordered online via www.LittleTroopers.net
