Fast-food corporation McDonald’s is continuing to make progress with its scheme for a new outlet in Alnwick.

The global giant’s bid for a restaurant next to the petrol station at Cawledge, to the south of the town, was approved in November 2014, and, as of today, work has started on site.

The company has also submitted an application for advertisement consent for seven fascia signs for the development.

Earlier this month, a McDonald’s spokesman said: “Our new restaurant will provide significant investment for Alnwick and is expected to open in the latter half of 2015, with construction work beginning over the summer”, adding that they ‘are excited about developing a long and positive relationship with the local community and its residents’.
