A woman was flown to hospital from Holy Island yesterday evening as a result of a multi-agency response.

At 7.17pm, Humber Coastguard tasked the Berwick RNLI all-weather lifeboat to transport two North East Ambulance Service paramedics to the island.

Holy Island Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) officers provided medical assistance to the woman and set-up a landing site for a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, which arrived at the same time as the lifeboat.

According to the Holy Island CRT Facebook page, she was ‘suffering from a possible stroke’.

She was assessed by a Coastguard helicopter paramedic and the North East Ambulance Service paramedics.

The woman was then transported to hospital by the helicopter.
