Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages Ltd is a Northumberland-based holiday-letting firm, which books and manages lettings for more than 400 properties across the county and is always on the look-out for new holiday cottages.
The company has its headquarters in Alnmouth and is proud of the bespoke service offered by its local staff, but also promises to market its holiday cottages through its national and international marketing and advertising campaigns.
Founded by Nikki Brierley in 1981, the firm has been based in Alnmouth ever since.
Last year, the perfect premises became available in Seahouses and a second office was acquired. Not only did this expansion allow for a branch further north in the county, it also offers a shopfront on the high street, meaning people can drop in and browse the holiday cottages available.
The Seahouses office also sells local arts and crafts, while offering holidaymakers a complimentary wifi service and the ability to browse and book future holidays.
Property manager Jonathan Keenan said: “We are very keen to promote other local businesses, and to boost the local economy.”
And the drive to keep it local extends further, with around 15 members of staff employed, all from the local area. Plus the company tries to use local tradesmen and companies wherever possible and actively supports local events and sporting clubs.
But that doesn’t mean that the company has a narrow outlook in terms of marketing and is well aware that a lot of its holiday-makers come from the whole of the UK, as well as from Europe.
“We work hard to ensure that our holiday cottages are effectively marketed to a wide audience to maximise the bookings and revenue for our customers and we are constantly alert to new and innovate marketing opportunities,” said Mr Keenan. “However we still maintain a personal touch and know each of our owners by name.”
He added that Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages Ltd, which is the longest-established holiday letting agency in the area, offers owners various levels of service from finding guests for cottages all the way through to a full management service. They have also recently launched a holiday-cottage sales division, advertising current properties to its extensive database to owners and guests.
