Who stole Mary and Joseph?

A SECOND appeal is being made for stolen Nativity statues to be returned.

The four-foot replicas of Mary and Joseph were taken from a scene set up in Alnwick’s former fish market, under the Northumberland Hall on Boxing Day night.

Alnwick Chamber of Trade (Act) set up the display to spread the Christian message of Christmas, and the models were loaned to the group by St Paul’s Church.

But despite an appeal last week, after the crime had been uncovered, no-one has come forward with information.

Carlo Biagioni, chairman of Act, said: “We would urge anyone who has information to come forward. Or if you have the statues, please return them to St Paul’s Church.”

Police are still investigating the crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 extension 69191.
