A ‘WATERFALL’ has been installed on an Alnwick street, to help raise money for a vital international charity.

Alnwick Lions has created the contraption to collect loose change outside its bookshop on Bondgate Within, with every penny going towards WaterAid.

The money raised helps the registered charity provide safe water and sanitation to the world’s poorest people, across 27 nations.

Dave Knowles, for Alnwick Lions, said: “We raise money for WaterAid every year and this year we have created our new ‘waterfall’.

“We hope that people passing by will pop their spare change into it, as it can make a very real difference to the lives of those helped by WaterAid.”

More than one billion people worldwide currently live without access to safe, clean water. As a result, it is estimated that 5,000 children die every day from water-related diseases.
