Fund-raising fun at Alnmouth

Crowds of people descended on Alnmouth beach to take part in the annual Volcano Night challenge. Armed with spades and piles of wood they had ten minutes to build a sandcastle and then they had to erect a bonfire on the top. The winner was the last bonfire to stay alight after the others had sunk into the sea. This year the winners were a local team who put their success down to firelighters, more firelighters and total ignorance! The event was organised by Alnmouth Community Rowing Association and proceeds went to Amble RNLI.
