WATCH: Slideshow from 5th Fusiliers’ march and laying-up ceremony

The 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, which was presented with new Colours yesterday, staged a march through Alnwick town centre to help mark the historic occasion.

The rousing procession featured the Band of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and started at Greenwell Road at 2.30pm. It went through the Bondgate Tower, along Bondgate Within and Narrowgate and then up Bailiffgate to St Michael’s Church, which hosted a laying-up ceremony of the old standards, known as Colours, of the 5th and now-defunct 6th Battalion.

The streets were lined with people who cheered and applauded the troops as they passed through town during the march, which followed the presentation of the new Colours by the Duke of Kent inside Alnwick Castle.
