WATCH: Northumberland festival celebrates maritime heritage

Visitors have descended on Blyth and Amble today for a new event celebrating the county’s maritime heritage.

The Northumberland Maritime Festival, which is taking place across the two towns, is the showcase for a new yacht racing event.

the first Northumberland Yachting Plate organised by the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club based in Blyth, and Amble based Coquet Yacht Club.

Throughout today, there have been a host of events taking place in Blyth including live entertainment and stalls, and Blyth Tall Ship Project opened its workshops to show the restoration work on the Haabet.
