WATCH: Keeper Dave Beasant saves time for young north Northumberland footballers

Footballing hero Dave Beasant pulled out all the stops at a coaching session at a north Northumberland goalkeeping school today.

Ex-professional Beasant is best remembered for his part in Wimbledon’s 1988 shock FA Cup victory, during which he was the first keeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup final when he blocked John Aldridge’s spot-kick for Liverpool.

Dave led a session at Westfield Park, Longhoughton, and presented Precision goalkeeping kit to the Gordon Saunders goalkeeping school, which is sponsored by Tustain Motors and Vauxhall.

He then conducted a one-hour coaching session. Dave made 340 appearances for Wimbledon, 133 for Chelsea and 139 for Nottingham Forest.
