Three fire engines were called out earlier this evening to tackle a fire in the cellar of an Alnwick pub.

Two appliances from Alnwick and another from Amble attended the scene at the Oaks Hotel in Alnwick following a call around 7.30pm. The police were also there to control the traffic.

Four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used by the firefighters, but the blaze did destroy a beer-cooling unit. No one was injured.
