Warkworth WI, January meeting

LETHAL LOVELIES: Warkworth WI’s president Rachel wished 31 members and three visitors a happy New Year and thanked all members for all their support at a wide range of activities throughout the past year.

We were pleased to hear that Mary Dixon was now home and best wishes were sent to her.

Birthday flowers were given to both November and December birthdays as our December party night had to be cancelled due to bad weather. We will now have the meal planned for December in May at our AGM.

Our meeting was started by singing Jerusalem accompanied by Diana Webber. Our treasurer Pat Dodd collected the yearly membership fee.

We were entertained by John Robertson whose talk on Lethal Lovelies was both entertaining and informative as he described the effects of poisonous plants and which parts of the plants are poisonous. Amanda Hood-Gater thanked John for his talk.

The competition winner with her cocktail recipe was Pat Boyd.

At our next meeting the speaker will be Malcolm Potter talking about Energy Saving. The competition is a handy tip for energy saving.

At our February meeting we will be collecting old spectacles to be recycled for charity.

Visitors are always welcome.
