For the December meeting of Warkworth Women’s Institute, president Marion Jones welcomed 43 members to the Christmas party night.

The tree was up, the tables were set with crackers and candles, and a fun night was in store. Following the business meeting, in which Diana Webber was warmly thanked for her contribution over the years to Warkworth WI before her move to Derbyshire in the new year, a good buffet was enjoyed.

There was a fun Christmas quiz that Sylvia had set, followed by games. Bingo was played, and it proved very popular. We also played pass the parcel.

The quiz was marked, accompanied with oohs and aahs as we realised we really had known the answers all along.

The committee was thanked for its hard work in organising the evening, and everyone was wished a happy Christmas.

Marion Jones won the birthday flowers. The competition for a Christmas decoration was won by: 1 Veronica Lound, 2 Kate Burnham, 3 Audrey Jones.

The evening was concluded with a singalong of carols.

The next meeting is on January 5, with a meat demonstration by Turnbull’s of Alnwick, and the competition is for favourite meat recipes.
