A walking company has teamed up with HospiceCare North Northumberland to make it the benefactor of a major rambling event.
Shepherds Walks has announced that its 19½-mile St Cuthbert’s Way Challenge Walk will raise funds for the charity.
The event is in its second year and Jon Monks, from the Kirkwhelpington-based business, is delighted to help HospiceCare.
He said: “It is a privilege to work with a local charity for the St Cuthbert’s Way Challenge Walk.
“It is a great walk in its own right and gives people an opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause, which is the icing on the cake.
“Hopefully this will give many people the opportunity to raise some money for this great local cause.
“So if you are looking for a challenge in 2013 and would like to raise some money for a great local charity please do book yourself on to the event and request a fund-raising pack at the same time.”
The event, described by Jon as a ‘truly challenging walk’ takes place on Saturday, August 10.
The cross-border challenge takes in the best section of St Cuthbert’s Way, in Scotland and England.
After checking in at Wooler, walkers will then be bussed over the border to Morebattle where they will start their epic journey.
This will initially be through the borders before climbing up over The Cheviots as participants follow the St Cuthbert’s Way back to Wooler.
The event starts at 8am is costs £27.50.
