Children from across Northumberland have put their heart into a campaign to get the county voted Britain’s best holiday destination.
The county has been shortlisted in the category of Best UK Holiday Destination in this year’s prestigious British Travel Awards. Everyone who lives in or loves Northumberland can vote to put the county on the map.
More than 400 pupils from Lindisfarne, Duke’s and St Paul’s RC middle schools in Alnwick got together to create a giant 18-metre-long heart outside Alnwick Castle, to show which county they think deserves to win.
As a thank-you for getting involved, Northumberland Tourism is offering the chance for one lucky voter and their family to win a stay in England’s Best Holiday Village 2014, Seafield Park in Seahouses, with a guided tour of the coast with Northerner Experience Wildlife Tours.
Voting is open until the end of September. Visit www.vote 4northumberland.com
