A project providing life-changing opportunities for girls from rural communities needs volunteer helpers.

Information evenings about getting involved with the Uniformed Youth Social Action Fund (UYSAF) programme are being held next week.

Development worker Laura Wilkinson said: “We are currently looking for creative and adventurous people to join our leadership teams in leader, assistant leader and unit helper roles.

“In return for your time, you will have fantastic support and mentoring, get great youth work experience and have a lot of fun!

“We run groups for girls in north Northumberland and are looking to expand our services so that more girls across the area can benefit.”

Full training will be given, including first aid and safeguarding.

Three evening sessions will be taking place on Monday, October 12, at 7.30pm in the Cheviot Centre, Wooler; Tuesday, October 13, at 7.30pm in the William Elder Building, Castlegate, Berwick; Thursday, October 15 at 7.30pm in the Hub in Sea,houses.
