Village set for scarecrows

Scarecrows will be inhabiting Rennington this weekend as the village hosts its annual festival.

The free event takes place from Saturday to Monday and runs daily from 10am.

As well as the scarecrows, there will be a quiz trail, games, stalls and a sausage sizzle from 11.30am. Refreshments will be in the village hall. The festival is raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Dreadnought Coaches will be running a shuttle bus service between Alnwick and Rennington on Sunday and Monday.

The bus will run at intervals from Alnwick from 11am until 3pm and from Rennington from 11.30am to 3.30pm. Fares are £3, £1 children (5 to 14), U5s free.

On Saturday, September 1, Rennington village hall hosts the Opera Dudes, who combine music with comedy.

The evening starts at 6.30pm with a buffet. The Dudes will appear from around 7.30pm.
