A special information and recruitment event has been organised in Belford to promote the village’s clubs, groups and organisations.

The meeting will take place at Bell View Resource Centre, on West Street, next Thursday, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

More than 30 clubs, groups and organisations will be represented on the day and residents are being urged to attend to find out more.

Organiser Alison Wooley said “We are encouraging people from Belford and the surrounding area to come along and find out more about what happens in the village.

“There will be information on how they can join or be inspired to get involved in the groups, which contribute to the local community.

“We want to increase people’s awareness of what is on offer in the village, ensuring all the groups and societies are inclusive and open to everybody, irrespective of age, sex, disability, colour or creed.

“The fact that more than 30 clubs, groups and organisations will be represented is testimony to the dedication of so many people, demonstrating what can be achieved when people get behind something and volunteer, making a real difference to their local area.”

She added: “People coming to our village always comment on the go-ahead and positive attitude, made possible by the number of people who give their time and energy voluntarily.

“We hope that other villages will be inspired by what has been achieved and realise that by working together anything can be achieved”

There will be free refreshments at the event.
