Special night at The Alnwick Garden
A stunning show of lighting was launched at the garden when Jane, Duchess of Northumberland, invited three sisters to switch on the dazzling display.
Founder Friends of the Garden Eileen Gearing, Sheila and Audrey Maddison, have lunched at the garden every week for the last 13 years and were thrilled to do the honours. Last winter saw the attraction’s hornbeam tunnels fitted with a state-of-the-art lighting system. This year, the second phase - Sparkle Two, was designed by Chris Thornton, the man behind the lights at Sloane Square in Chelsea, London. Gazette photographer Jane Coltman took her camera along to meet the sisters, the Duchess and the spectacle of colour and light.
