Young and old filled the town square for the occasion which also saw Father Christmas arrive on his sleigh.

The lights are put on thanks to a volunteer committee led by chairman Gordon Castle who thanked everyone for their donations and support which help keep the tradition going.

The Christmas tree in the centre of the Market Place has been adorned with decorations made by school pupils.
