A charging point for electric vehicles will be installed in Rothbury.
Members of Northumberland County Council’s planning and environment committee gave the go-ahead for the kit to be installed in High Street, near the Turks Head.
The authority aims to increase the number of charging points in the county to promote electric vehicle use and currently offers 20 points under its Charge Your Car scheme.
Other Rothbury sites in Church Street were initially considered by council officers, but they decided on High Street due to accessibility and the location of electrical supply.
Five comments were received in support of the proposal, while another five were submitted in opposition, with concerns that the point would exacerbate parking problems in the area.
It was also suggested that it would be better placed in the car park over the bridge, but officers said there would be difficulties with the electrics.
