‘They quickly left the area, but the police were called and did find those responsible.

‘The fire was put out before it spread any further.

‘We are not a playground, we are a football club run by volunteers.

‘Please do not damage our home. We have enough to do without fixing mindless vandalism.

‘We will be looking to increase security at the club as this is not an isolated incident and the police will be called to any future disturbances.’

The club has thanked Northumbria Police for its quick response.
