Valuables go under the TV hammer

A POPULAR antiques programme is coming to a major north Northumberland tourist attraction next week.

BBC2’s Flog It! – presented by Paul Martin – is being staged at Alnwick Castle on Tuesday.

The show is holding a valuation day for members of the public to bring along antiques and collectables they might be interested in selling.

Once valued, the owner and team of experts decide whether it should go forward for auction.

If the item is chosen to be filmed, it is sold a few weeks later – often with the owner making a tidy sum – and the resulting programme will be broadcast later in the year.

Admission to the valuation day, which runs from 9.30am to 4pm, is free and everyone who goes along will receive a valuation – even if their antiques are not chosen to go forward for auction – but tickets are required for Castle attractions including Knights’ Quest, the State Rooms and tours.

Entry for Flog It! is at the Castle Square, which is the Alnwick town entrance rather than The Alnwick Garden entrance.

It will be an outdoor event, weather permitting.

The auction will take place at Boldon Auction Galleries, Front Street, East Boldon, Tyne and Wear, on Wednesday, September 21.
