CHILDREN at a Northumberland first school have completed a colourful project on imaginary sea creatures, helped by a team of artists led by a former pupil.

Royal Academy Schools art graduate Amy McDonough returned to Hipsburn First School as artist-in-residence, to work with children from Class 3.

Backed by a team of artists, including Luke Sellers, Amy helped the class produce stories, sound effects and props for a video artwork about the fantastic creatures which might live in the sea along the coastline of Alnmouth and Boulmer.

And at the screening of The Creatures, she praised the quality of the children’s’work.

“Their unique ideas and enthusiasm were exceptional,” said Amy.

“It was a real pleasure to return and work in the school where I have such good memories of my own childhood.”
