Two villages in line for over 100 new homes

A pair of Coquetdale villages are being lined up for major housing developments which could bring 117 new properties in total.

Sixty are proposed for the west end of Thropton, which will include up to 20 affordable properties for local residents to rent. A consultation event is being held in Thropton War Memorial Hall today by the developers, from 2pm to 6pm.

And a further 57 are being planned by Northumberland Estates for the east side of Whitton View in Rothbury. The proposal also looks to include up to 20 affordable properties to rent within the scheme.

County councillor Steven Bridgett said: ‘Both applications highlight very real concerns for the area, particularly with regard to utilities. I would like to hear residents’ views on these applications, whether it be in support or against.”
