Double national Franchisee of the Year winner Tina Young, from Guyzance, will be talking about her Barking Mad home-from-home dog care operation and how she fought breast cancer while keeping the business going.

The conference – Inspiring Women in the North East – takes place at the Hope Street Exchange in Sunderland on Wednesday, March 8.

Mother-of-two Tina said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be asked to talk about my work to such an influential group of women. The conference is designed to be a showcase for the success of women in the workplace.

“One of the main conference aims is to highlight what can be achieved by women who decide to go it alone.

“In my case I started the east, north and south Northumberland Barking Mad franchise in 2005 after a less than fulfilling career in the banking industry. Since then, I have grown the alternative to dog kennels business to the point where we have organised and managed more than 2,500 dog holidays.”

In the 2014 National Franchisee of the Year, run by the British Franchise Association, she won the small operations top prize and was declared overall winner across all franchise categories.
