A Northumberland woman can count herself UK ‘top dog’ in her business.

Tina Young, of Guyzance, has won the coveted Barking Mad Franchisee of the Year Award.

The award was presented to Tina at the home-from-home petcare company’s annual conference.

Tina won the £1,000 prize and framed certificate in the face of competition from fellow franchisees running 65 territories in England, Wales and Scotland.

Tina, who launched the East and North Northumberland franchise in 2005, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to win the award. Our team has worked very hard over the years to provide and maintain a high level of service.

Lee Dancy, MD of Barking Mad: “Tina has been an outstanding asset to the company. She is passionate and committed to her business and I would have no hesitation in recommending her work ethic as a template for how to run a successful franchise.”

With the help of her team – Carol Ann Grey, Colin Heathcote and new administrator Jenny Beaumont – Tina hopes to increase turnover in 2015 by 35 per cent.

“To ensure that we can continue to provide a top-quality service for established and new customers we will need to add to our band of terrific hosts,” said Tina. “If anybody wishes to care for a dog in their home while the owner is on holiday they are welcome to get in touch for a chat.

“We provide the transportation, and dogs arrive with their food and other holiday essentials.”
