Till and Glendale Rotary Club

LATE FOR LEEKS: At the first speaker meeting of 2011, Till and Glendale Rotarians discovered that they’re probably already too late to grow show leeks this year!

In a fascinating and detailed presentation, Rob Marriner of Lowick Leek Club, ably supported by his wife Anne, who is treasurer and secretary, wowed Rotarians with the details of care and attention that leeks need.

Members will now consider whether or not to run a competition within the club which Rob has kindly agreed to judge. Next year, maybe Rotarians will have developed the skills to compete with the many clubs in the area.

The club is planning a series of coffee mornings, with home-made cakes, crafts, bric-a-brac and book stalls.

The aim is to raise funds and to raise the profile of Rotary, seeking ideas about how the club can fulfil its goal of helping communities in north Northumberland.
