Thropton WI, May meeting

At the annual meeting of Thropton WI, our WI advisor was Marjory Read, who we know as an amusing speaker and from our twinning with South Ridge WI.

We began with our once-a-year singing of Jerusalem, then heard about changes in the national constitution and having our own by-laws.

Our president, secretary and treasurer spoke, all resigned after years of good work (but they are not leaving).

We heard a report from the spring council and also heard of ‘sparkly shoe envy.’

Marjory carried out the vote for our new president and told us why we sing that song. She also urged us to use Cresswell House as our headquarters. She was thanked and all shared a pooled supper.

Our next meeting will hear a talk on Rothbury pool and gym by Peter Halliwell on June 5.
