A NEW business opened its doors to customers in north Northumberland this week, offering a range of massage therapies providing relief for injuries, stress and all manner of common health issues.

Equilibrium, on Wooler’s High Street, is the realisation of a dream for Jean Watson, the therapist behind the new venture.

“A very long time ago I discovered how powerful these massage techniques are, in bringing relief from all manner of injuries and ailments,” she said.

“This led me on to many years of training and qualification, and the deeper I have studied the more I’ve seen the way they have touched people, and brought relief and release to so many.

“To be able to offer these things to people in such a lovely environment, is really exciting – it’s my dream come true.”

The new treatment room is next to the Breeze café, and the two businesses are exploring innovative ways of working together to benefit customers.

Breeze’s owner Pauline Aitchison said: “Both businesses are aiming to make very high-quality feel-good offerings to our customers, and since we’re in the same unit we think it makes sense to serve each other’s guests.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jean to the High Street, I’m sure she will do very well here.”

Jean, originally from Cheshire, came to live in Wooler six years ago. She has spent the last eight years training and working as a qualified therapist, before taking the opportunity to open a treatment facility in her adopted home town.

She has recently been appointed to travel with the Ladies European Professional Golf Tour, providing massage treatments to players, but said these therapies are not just for elite sports professionals.

“I do aim to offer very real improvement for people with strains and injuries, but also know that all manner of common problems – like back and neck pain, frozen shoulder, digestive problems, and anxiety – can be successfully helped through these treatments,” she said.
