An Alnwick festival will this year prove that Northumberland is the food of love.
Alnwick Food Festival is helping to promote the county’s specialist wedding venues as part of its events programme in the Northumberland Hall on September 22 and 23.
The county is famous for its hospitality, cultural heritage, romantic beaches and rolling countryside.
Every year, thousands of couples select it as the ideal location to host their special day.
Food Festival director Karen Larkin hopes the county’s 75 registered locations may be able to use the event to attract visitors from within the county and beyond to host ceremonies in Northumberland.
“Northumberland offers fantastic cuisine, historic settings, numerous castles, stately homes, halls and hotels. It’s the perfect one-stop wedding location,” said Karen.
“Over the coming weeks, we’d like anyone professionally involved within wedding arrangement circles such as specialist venues, dress-makers, outfitters, cake-makers, florists, wedding car companies and photographers to get in touch. Exhibitors can attend by booking a stall or we can display brochures and contact details at the event.”
The prestigious food event last year attracted more than 30,000 people.
This year’s festival celebrity guest is Michelin star chef Jean-Christophe Novelli. The famous TV chef attended the 2011 event and helped raise visitor numbers by 12,000.
He will be demonstrating his culinary expertise in the Northumberland Hall over the event weekend.
