Doreen Coleman, of the Alnwick International Music Festival’s organising committee and representing the town’s Pottergate Centre, was presented with a cheque for £200 by the Lillian Dance Group from Taiwan.

The group was very popular at this year’s event.

The Lillian Dance Group was one of three groups appearing at the festival from Taiwan.

It supports some students with special needs and Cindy Lee and Hsieh Yu Huei, parents of two such students in the group, were so impressed by the work done by the Alnwick Pottergate Centre, including the very popular drumming group Rhythm Stix – who also performed at this year’s festival – that they wanted to make a contribution to the Centre that might help buy new musical instruments.

Doreen was delighted with the gesture.
